Influence is the ability to have a positive impact on the decisions, actions and opinions of others. It’s what you do each and every day. And you do this through dexterous management of your words and actions. Many skills are put into play to achieve this. These skills can and should always be improved on. Because in this day and age, if you’re not improving you’re falling behind.
BE BRILLIANT AT THE BASICS – BECAUSE GOOD IS JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH ANYMORE.
What you really want is to become brilliant at as many "basic skills" as possible: preparation, active listening, asking questions, presenting your offer, delivering value, handling push back, negotiating, etc. Improving on those fundamentals is what this influence game is all about today. This is where you’ll get more results from your efforts; by amplifying your strengths.
SELLING MODEL – NOT.
We do not have a new magical “7-step selling formula”. We can work from your selling or leadership model. Only if required we’ll adjust or add a couple of sub-steps and we’ll get your people to practice the difference between good and great, so in time they can become brilliant at as many skills as possible.
The same principle applies for leadership workshops. An exception is being made for coaching workshops, where we have a solid four-step model. As for negotiation skills workshops and presentation skills workshops, we often provide a “planning guide” that we customize based on your reality.
BATTLE-TESTED TOOLS AND MICRO ADJUSTMENTS
So let us be your push to greatness! And let’s not fall once more into this non-sense of trying to reinvent the wheel at each and every workshop. It’s about becoming brilliant at the basics. And we have found multiple ways to make this process eye-opening and enjoyable for all kinds of participants.
Sometimes people come to one of our workshops firmly convinced that they have all the skills they need and that the workshop will be a paint-by-numbers instruction that insults their intelligence and wastes their time. We’ve come to love that challenge. There’s nothing more gratifying than having hostile skeptics awash in attitude leave hours later proclaiming that the workshop was one of the most beneficial things they’ve done in a long time.
